CEBU, Philippines - American troops will be in Cebu to join a mangrove planting tomorrow.

Sailors of the United States Pacific Fleet missile cruiser will be in Sitio Lubi, Canjulao, Lapu-Lapu City at 6 a.m.

The activity is set while USS Shiloh (CG 67), a Ticonderoga-class guided missile cruiser, will have its routine port of call in Cebu City today.

This "highlights the strong historic, community, and military connections between the United States and the Republic of the Philippines," said an advisory posted by the US Embassy in Manila.

The stopover is also a chance for the ship to replenish its supplies and for the crew to unwind and enjoy the Queen City of the South.

The vessel, homeported in Yokosuka, Japan, is commanded by Captain Kurush F. Morris.
