Rama eyes quiz bowl for CH staff

Kristine B. Quintas - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - In order to test and develop the knowledge and skills of Cebu City Hall employees, Mayor Michael Rama is planning to organize a quiz bowl.

Rama said the quiz bowl will be participated by all divisions which will later be benefited by the employees themselves.

“I would like to have quiz bowl per division to know how far they know on the city’s vision, mission, framework, pillars, management style, focus, platforms and branding because it is the only way people will be able to develop advocacy, inculcation, education, information, and learning.” Rama said.

Rama explained that the said ability will prove if the employee deserves to stay in service in the city government.

“This is now the time you (employees) can prove, so that when December comes or whatever possibilities may come, you can prove that you deserve to stay. We are recognizing their brain and heart,” Rama said.

Rama aims at simply bringing City Hall employees the needed focus and determination instead of being influenced and tempted by some other unrelated things for the development of the city.

On the part of the government officials, Rama said they will equip employees with a state of the art facilities to attach pride and not to develop self-pity of the employees.

In return the city might as well give prizes for the winners of the battle of the brains.

The activity is in line with the mayor’s objective to establish a “Show of Super Service (SOSS) in all 80 barangays.

Rama stressed that the SOSS is primarily attributed to the super service the city can give to its constituents like a clean city, super lighted streets, people privately driven governance, among others.— /GMR (FREEMAN)
