Overseas job recruitment in Medellin gets mixed reactions
CEBU, Philippines - The invitation of Medellin Mayor Ricardo Ramirez to his constituents for job abroad has gotten mixed reactions when some warned not to apply while there are others who also encouraged grabbing the opportunity.
Ramirez has announced that staff of Maanyag International which is owned by a native of Medellin are in town until Friday for recruitment 28 to 42 years old females willing to work in Malaysia, Dubai, Kuwait and Qatar.
The agency offers no placement fee and they will take care of the securing of papers such as the National Statistics Office, Marriage Contract, National Bureau of Investigation, and passport for free.
It also offered free transportation from hometown to Cebu City and to Manila, foods, lodging and training with the Technical Education Skills Development Authority.
A certain Auxel Villarba appealed on her Facebook to applicants not to apply for Kuwait.
“Last 3 months ago nagpipirma kami ng papers para mai-ban ang Philippines patungo dito sa Kuwait, pag ibang bansa ok pa, pero dito dilikado,†said Villarba.
Ramirez has assured that should there be complaints; the owner of the agency is in Medellin.
“Anyway, ang may ari sa Maanyag ay taga Medellin, so if may mga reklamo, di pwede nato sya reklamuhan,†Ramirez also said on his Facebook.
Villarba shared that she had been helping a lot of domestic helpers maltreated by their bosses.
“Naawa lang ako sa kababayan natin kasi ako mismo ang may alam sa bagay, may iba ok, may iba hindi,†she said.
A certain Zzahwell Ain Despacio who claimed working in Kuwait for eight years already through the same agency has encouraged others to go.
“Paswerti-swerti lang buhay abroad poh, galing ako ng Maanyag last 2006 pa, wala namang nangyari sa akin. Think positive lang and pray hard,†the post said.
Marten Mepieza suggested that vital information must be checked and the family must get hold copy of important documents.
Maanyag International Manpower Corporation is a land-based agency located in Las Piñas City with license valid until March 5, 2016 issued by the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
“So, ako naa sad nag work sa Kuwait almost 6 yrs. Ug kini nga agency kasaligan gyod nga motabang kaninyo. So look forward our future. God bless you all,†said one Tita Gelig.—(FREEMAN)
