ABC prexies to pick their Cebu PB rep Wednesday

CEBU, Philippines - More than half of the presidents of the Liga ng mga Barangay, also known as the Association of Barangay Councils (ABC), in Cebu were reelected in last Monday’s synchronized elections for the component city and municipal levels.

The ABC presidents will meet Wednesday next week to pick from their ranks their ABC provincial federation president who would get a seat as ex-officio member of the Cebu Provincial Board

Of the 51 component cities and municipalities, 31 were given fresh mandates as ABC presidents, though six of them served the position only last July to finish the remaining term of their predecessors who were elected as vice mayors and town councilors in the May 13 elections.

The six are Aurelio Alinsonorin of Naga City, Joseph Redula of Alegria, Nelson Gingoyon of Barili, Juanito Cantero of Liloan, Crispin Retiza Jr. of Sogod and Noel Sano of Tudela.

The other reelected ABC presidents are Alfonso Donaire IV of San Fernando, Mercedita Apura of Carcar City, Arnelito Rubin of Argao, Eriberto Bentazal of Dalaguete, Emerito Calderon of Samboan, Carlita Jomuad of Ginatilan, Lito Narciso Creus III of Malabuyoc.

Roberto Librando Sr. of Badian, Susana Nuevo of Moalboal, Antonio Garcia of Dumanjug, Rogelio Dealagdon of Aloguinsan, Lourdes Balili of Asturias, Bernabe Gonzales Jr. of Balamban, Edgardo Aguilar of Toledo City.

Jose Ribomapil Holganza Jr. of Bantayan, Rex Novabos of Daanbantayan, Leonardo Montilla of Medellin, Rolando Villacarlos of Sta. Fe, Teresita Lechido of Tabogon, Vicente Laping Sr. of Carmen, Joven Amor of Compostela, Dina Rama of Poro, Ernie Manatad of Mandaue City, Marilou Casul of Consolacion and Celedonio Sitoy of Cordova.

On the other hand, the newly elected ABC presidents are Raul Cabañero of Talisay City, Clifford Cabiles of Minglanilla, Daniel Sarnillo of Sibonga, Violeta Sestoso of Alcoy, Ariston Vequizo Jr. of Boljoon, Milagros Postrano of Oslob, Felicisimo Tano of Santander, Joseph Redula of Alegria, Aquim Nasibog of Alcantara, Bibiano Cabaron of Ronda.

Michael Sabagala of Pinamungajan, Wilfredo Diamante of Tuburan, Celestino Martinez III of Bogo City, Jay River dela Fuente of Madridejos, Antonio Villamor of San Remigio, Renerio Oca of Tabuelan, Richard Antigua of Borbon, Andres Arche Jr. of Catmon, Thomas Mark Durano of Danao City, Amalia Salinas of Pilar and Nerisa Arquillano of San Francisco.

On Nov. 18, they would decide whether to have Holganza remain as their representative at the PB or elect a new one from among their ranks.

The barangay captains of the highly urbanized cities of Cebu and Lapu-Lapu are set to elect their respective ABC president on Dec. 10.

The ABC presidents sit as ex-officio members of the city and municipal councils.—(FREEMAN)
