CEBU, Philippines - Two men were shot dead in separate incidents in Carmen and Balamban towns in Cebu last December 8.

The incident in Carmen happened past 1 a.m. in Barangay Upper Natimao-an.

Investigation revealed that Guiwanon Lozano, 32, came from a dance at a plaza and took shelter at a house owned by one Edisio Dimco when the suspect, Eufronio Luardo, 78, shot him there at past 1 a.m.

The police said the suspect used a homemade "Ingram" gun in shooting the victim.

Witnesses reportedly saw Lozano playing cards inside Dimco's house when Luardo appeared and shot him in the chest.

Barangay tanod Nenito Abayon was quick to respond and arrested Luardo. The suspect was turned over subsequently to the Balamban Police pending the filing of charges.

SPO3 Renerio Masocol Jr. of the Balamban Police said Luardo believed Lozano was among the men who wounded his sibling severely during a robbery incident sometime early this year.

"Dako ang pagtuo sa suspect nga usa ang biktima nga nitulis sa iyang igsuon. Noted man sab si Lozano nga hilabtanon sa ilang lugar (The suspect believed that the victim was among those who robbed his brother. Lozano had the reputation of being notorious at their place)," Masocol said.

Roughly five hours after the incident in Carmen, William Diamante, 35, was shot by unidentified assailants while he was sleeping at a room in his house in Barangay Lamasa, Balamban.

SPO1 Jose Renielito of the Balamban Police said Diamante was sleeping with his son when the suspects, reportedly in camouflage outfits, entered their house past 5 a.m. and shot him several times.

Renielito said Diamante still managed to tell his son to hide after he was shot. The boy and the victim's live-in partner hid inside the restroom.

"Naka sulti pa daw ang biktima og tago-tago sa iyang anak (He still managed to tell his son to hide)," Ranielito said.

Renielito said Diamante had the reputation of being a bully.

"Ilado daw ang biktima nga hilabtanon apan walay makareklamo batok niya kay mahadlok sila balikan (He had the reputation of being a bully but no one dared to get back at him for fear of retaliation)," Ranielito said.

Police recovered six empty shells of a 9mm caliber revolver and a deformed slug from the crime scene.  (FREEMAN)
