More aid for Visayas arrive from Taiwan

CEBU, Philippines - A Taiwanese Navy Ship will arrive today at the Cebu International Port, bringing more aid for typhoon-hit areas in the Visayas region.

ROCS Chung Ho LST 232, the Taiwanese Navy vessel will be escorting a cargo ship carrying the material aid from Taiwan and will arrive around 9 to 10 in the morning today.

Commissioner Frederick Ong, Jr. from the Commission on Overseas Chinese said that about 800 tons of relief goods and housing materials will be turned over by the neighboring Asian country to local authorities.

The goods were gathered by Tsu Chi Association from the people of Taiwan, China and will be given directly to the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) 7 for distribution to affected local government units.

Unloading of the aid from is set to finish by Sunday while the Taiwanese humanitarian delegation will return home on Monday.  (FREEMAN)
