Two bodies recovered inside burned car in Danao City

CEBU, Philippines - Two unidentified bodies were found inside a burned car in Barangay Sabang, Danao City early morning yesterday.

PO3 Marlon Remollo, investigator of the case, said they have yet to determine the identities of the victims or establish if both were a couple since there were no credentials found in the car.

Remollo said the cadavers were found on the backseat of a Hyundai SUV, which had no plate number, and was covered with a steel and nylon belt of a tire.

"Gahigda ning duha nga mura'g gatapad pero wala na ang luyo nga lingkuranan mura'g gikuha na," he said.

The police believe that both were victims of summary execution.

Remollo said that four children looking for spiders discovered the burning vehicle around 1:00 in the morning yesterday.

"Ingon sila nga pag-abot nila sa lugar mga 8:00p.m. wala pa kuno to ngadto ang sakyanan unya sige sila ug pangita ug kaka hangtud nga dunay gadilaab nga sakyanan," he said.

The police suspects that the incident took place between 10 pm to 11 pm since the burned car still had embers when they arrived.

There were also no witnesses since the car was placed in a secluded area, about three to four kilometers from the main road.

Based on the investigation, the police also believe that the victims were not killed in the area but were just dumped and burned there.

"Mao lang nay usa sa among mga pagduda hinuon amo pa nang klaruhon kung gipatay nang daan," Remollo said.

The vehicle is now subject for macro-etching to get its chassis and engine numbers which will be later referred to the Land Transportation Office to determine the owner of the vehicle.

They are also coordinating with the nearby police stations for reports of missing persons.

"Basin lang dunay mo-coincide unya sa mga biktima," Remollo said.- (FREEMAN)
