Port terminal 3 Abandoned

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Terminal 3 at the Cebu Port was ordered abandoned yesterday afternoon.

Karen Quiñanola-Gonzales, Cebu Port Authority media liaison officer, said that their engineering services ordered the abandonment of the building after the quay wall caved-in causing the structure’s flooring to give way.

Gonzales said that vessels of Trans-Asia Shipping Lines and Weesam Express have to transfer their docking area at Pier 2.

“Ang pier dunggo-anan na siya sa Trans-Asia ug Weesam. As of yesterday, gibalhin na ilang dunggo-anan sa Pier 2,” she said.

Waiting passengers of these two vessels were also transferred to said pier.

The Terminal 3 has an average of 2,800 passengers per day.

Gonzales added that CPA is still assessing the damages of the building brought about by super typhoon Yolanda that struck Cebu last Friday. (FREEMAN)
