Ex-convict killed in Consolacion
CEBU, Philippines - A former convict was killed after he was shot by two unidentified men early morning Wednesday near the public market of Barangay Cansaga, Consolacion.
Johnryl Sontocidad Monera, 24, and resident of Ibabao, Barangay Poblacion Occidental, was recently released from the Mandaue City Jail for illegal possession of firearm.
He was reportedly waiting for his younger brother, Jonathan, near the market when two men on board a green motorcycle without plate number arrived and shot him once.
Monera was hit in the left side of his body and was rushed to the Eversley Child Sanitarium in Barangay Jagobiao, Mandaue City where he was declared dead on arrival.
Police recovered an empty shell of .45 caliber pistol believed from the firearm used by the assailants.
PO3 Arthur Ariate said they are now looking into Monera’s previous case in their investigation.
Police said they will invite the victim’s companion and his younger brother for questioning.
Consolacion police has already forwarded the case to the Cebu Provincial Police Office. — (FREEMAN)
