CEBU, Philippines - Provincial Board Member Jose Ribomapil Holganza Jr. has passed the first stage in his effort to retain the presidency of the Federation of the Associations of Barangay Councils (FABC) of the province.

Holganza, a barangay captain of Baod in Bantayan town, was unopposed in his reelection bid.

If elected president of Association of Barangay Councils of Bantayan, Holganza will qualify for the provincial federation presidency.

“Depende ni tanan sa ako mga kaubanan nga kapitan sa Bantayan ug mga ABC presidents sa province,” Holganza told The FREEMAN.

A barangay captain since 2007, Holganza was elected as ABC president of Bantayan and then vice president of FABC of the Province of Cebu.

When then PB member and FABC president Teresita Celis was elected mayor of Boljoon town in 2010, Holganza went on to finish her term at the PB.

Holganza was reelected barangay captain and ABC president of Bantayan in 2010 and ran unopposed for FABC president.

Unless reelected, his term in the PB will end on November 30, 2013.

Holganza served as PB member during the term of Emilio “Lito” Osmeña as governor. He was also commissioner of the National Youth Commission.

In 2007 elections, he ran for PB in the fourth congressional district but lost. —/LPM (FREEMAN)
