Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Police arrested a female drug courier with 200 sachets of shabu during a buy bust operation in Barangay Carreta late Tuesday night.

The suspect was identified as Judith Oyao who, police said, could dispose of 300 grams of shabu every week. She reportedly used to be part of a group that was neutralized in Lapu-Lapu City, said, City Intelligence Branch chief Romeo Santander.

“She’s a drug courier. Dinagko iyang pagpamaligya og drogas. We’re communicating with Lapu-Lapu City Police on her connection with Oyao Drug Group,” he said.

Oyao allegedly distributed drugs in Cebu City, Mandaue City and Lapu-Lapu City and has been arrested previously also for drugs.

“Daghang nanawag namo sa opisina na maayo ra daw nadakpan na ni siya kay daghan siyang nagubang pamilya,” the CIB chief added.

One of the callers, Santander said, even branded the suspect as a “drug queen”.

Santander said they carried out the operation after confirming reports about the suspect’s illegal drug activity.

A team from CIB led by Insp. Gomersendo Mandawe proceeded to Oyao’s house in sitio Laray at nearly midnight yesterday where the transaction was consummated. Oyao was arrested just as she handed over two packs of shabu to a poseur-buyer in exchange for P200.

Police subsequently recovered a light green plastic container from the suspect that contained 213 other small packs of the substance believed to be shabu.

The suspect did not resist arrest, but was reportedly uncooperative during interrogation, Santander said.

Drug charges will be filed against the suspect who is now temporarily detained at the Cebu City Police Office stockade. – (FREEMAN)
