Passengers safe after shuttle runs aground
CEBU, Philippines - The 63 passengers and 18 crew of MV Super Shuttle Ferry 10 survived unscathed after the vessel ran aground in the Polambato Wharf in Bogo City, Cebu, yesterday afternoon.
Philippine Coast Guard Central Visayas Commodore William Melad said that the vessel was about to leave Bogo City at 3:30 p.m. when it ran aground.
Bogo City is considered as the center for trade and commerce in the north and has easy access to other provinces such as Samar, Leyte and Masbate.
The vessel was supposed to leave for Palompon, Leyte.
Melad said that the vessel was maneuvering for undocking at the said wharf when it drifted and touched the bottom. Melad added that passengers were brought back to the wharf by small boats.
MV Super Shuttle Ferry 10 is owned by the Cebu-based Asian Marine Transport Corp. The company was not available for comment yesterday. — (FREEMAN)
