AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Employees of the Provincial Capitol are still waiting for the release of their bonus that was announced during the 444th founding anniversary celebration of the Province of Cebu.

Provincial Budget Officer Danilo Rodas said that the anniversary bonus that was announced by Gov. Hilario Davide III last August 6 maybe be released next week.

The appropriation is included in the supplemental budget that is yet to be approved by the Provincial Board.

Davide announced that the bonus will be released across the board to the around 1,540 employees.

Last year, some employees received P12,000 while some had more than P30,000 since the incentive was performance based.

Prior the anniversary celebration, employees eagerly waited for news about their bonus considering the financial standing of the Capitol since last year.

Last December, then Acting Governor Agnes Magpale announced that the Provincial Government needs to settle close to P1 billion payables but it only had less than P100,000 million in its coffers. (FREEMAN)
