Mixdon to return items soon - Encabo
CEBU, Philippines - A day after reports of the P1.2-million worth of unreturned items under his name came out in the newspapers, the former Capitol employee who was co-terminus with former governor Gwendolyn Garcia called the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO), assuring that he will have all items returned immediately.
PGSO head Eva Encabo said yesterday that Edwin Mixdon, former Executive Assistant under the office of the Governor, called her and informed her that he is not in Cebu right now but he will immediately attend to the items he needs to trace and return these as soon as he comes back.
Last Tuesday, Encabo said they will be sending Mixdon a second demand letter to return more than P1.2 million worth of items under his name.
These items include 21 guns, one motorcycle and a number of handheld radio and transceivers. These items were reportedly used by security personnel assigned in the Governor’s office and were purchased in 2006 and in the following years.
Encabo said that Mixdon is responsible for the items since he was the signatory, even though these were not used by him.
“Iya daw paninguhaon nga hutdon niya og kuha sa mga police nga nagkupot ato (guns),†said Encabo. (He will look for the policemen using the guns.)
If the items would not be returned, Mixdon may face cases like malversation of public property.
Governor Hilario Davide III said that like the other officials and personnel who were not cleared by the PGSO, they will still send an official demand letter to Mixdon.
Mixdon, along with other co-terminus employees of Garcia, tendered his resignation last February. — (FREEMAN)
