6 men nabbed for Tabuelan burglary

CEBU, Philippines - Six suspects, four of them minors, were arrested for burglarizing a town councilor’s store in Barangay Poblacion, Tabuelan early morning Sunday.

Suspects took the P6,250 proceeds inside the cash drawer of the sari-sari store owned by councilor Silvestre Momo, 68.

Currently detained at the Tabuelan police stockade are John Clyde Pude, 20, and Junrey Lampago, 18, both from the said barangay.

Also held by the police are two suspects aged 16 and two others aged 15. They were turned over to the Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office.

The store is located at the ground floor of Momo’s house.

Initial investigation showed that Pude entered the store through the second floor by destroying the window grills using a steel pipe.

Pude then went downstairs and carted away the cash when some coins fell to the floor. The sound woke up the helper, Flor Mondejar, 43, who then informed Momo.

Momo verified at the store and saw Pude which started a commotion. Momo was injured in his left eyebrow.

Momo’s wife, Larena, 62, who followed her husband to the store, was reportedly pushed by Pude who also kicked Mondejar  as he escaped.

In a hot pursuit operation, SPO1 Roy Guinita’s team, together with Poblacion barangay captain Ivar Momo, arrested the suspect.

At around 9:00a.m., Lampago and the four minors voluntarily surrendered at the police station and confessed their conspiracy with Pude. Appropriate charges will be filed against Pude and Lampago.

Meanwhile, about P160,000 worth of broilers were allegedly stolen inside a poultry farm by unidentified suspects in Barangay Daanlungsod, Alcoy, Friday afternoon.

The incident was discovered by farm owner, Lilian Nayga, 43, while she and her staff were harvesting the chickens.

“I-deliver nata ‘to nila, (They were supposed to deliver it already),” said Insp. Crisanto Abella, Alcoy Police Station chief.

Nayga, who owned K and K poultry farm, reported the incident on Saturday at 9 a.m. and sought the help of police.

Prior to the incident, Nayga was harvesting the broilers with her staff at 2 a.m. and placed them on containers inside a delivery truck.

Upon counting the chickens, Nayga noticed that about 1,100 broilers were missing.   Abella said they are still investigating the incident and the people who worked at the farm. They also did not discount the possibility of inside job.

“Apil sa investigation tanan kay gikonsiderar man nato sila nga suspects. (Everyone is included in the investigation because they are all considered suspects),” he said. (FREEMAN)
