Villarete’s stint as CTO head expires
CEBU, Philippines - Mayor Michael Rama has yet to announce who will head the City Treasurer’s Office as the appointment of CTO officer-in-charge Emma Villarete expires today.
Only July 11, Rama endorsed to the Bureau of Local Government Finance (BLGF) Cebu City Treasurer Ofelia Oliva, her son, Mandaue City OIC Treasurer Regal Oliva and Cebu City OIC accountant Diwa Cuevas.
Four days later, BLGF 7 OIC Regional Director Carmelane Tugas informed the mayor that his letter has been forwarded to BLGF Executive Director Salvador Del Castillo.
In her letter to Rama, Tugas also suggested that while waiting for appropriate action from the Bureau and/or the Department of Finance, the regular assistant treasurer for operations may assume office in caretaker capacity to prevent disruption in the normal and operations of the Treasurer’s Office.
Cebu City’s Assistant City Treasurer for Operations is Tessie Camarillo.
Rama said an announcement will be made as to the temporary city treasurer while waiting for the decision of BLGF. — (FREEMAN)
