Gov wants orderly South Bus Terminal
CEBU, Philippines - Governor Hilario Davide III wants a cleaner and more orderly South Bus Terminal. He has ordered personnel to remove dilapidated carts and implement a better system for passengers boarding buses.
“Dapat i-clear gyod ni aron di maka-obstruct sa traffic. (This should be cleared so that it will not obstruct traffic),†Davide said.
The Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) yesterday conducted an inventory after receiving reports regarding the allegedly shabby conditions inside the terminal.
“Mas maayo gyod nang adtuon aron makita how far ang trabaho-onon didto. (It’s best to visit the area to see what work needs to be done),†said PGSO chief Eva Encabo.
Problems include the dilapidated carts which have been reportedly stored in the stockroom for at least three years. The carts were then used for the passengers’ baggage.
They also discovered during the inspection that shower rooms which are still in good condition were locked.
An employee of the South Bus Terminal who refused to be identified said these rooms were locked since passengers found it inconvenient to use the facility.
“Storyahan pa og unsaon ni kay imposible man pod og di na sila (passengers) mangaligo daan sa ilaha. (We have to discuss what to do with this because it is impossible for them not to take a bath at home before travelling),†he told The FREEMAN.
He pointed out other problems including the existence of dispatchers in the area and the problem in the implementation of the ‘close-door policy’ where bus doors are supposed to be closed upon leaving the terminal and passengers must line up and board the buses inside the terminal.
Encabo stressed that the inventory was made upon the request of the governor so as to come up with necessary recommendations.
Davide will use PGSO’s recommendations to come up with measures in addressing the said concerns which were aired by bus operators who met with the governor last Friday. (FREEMAN)
