CEBU, Philippines - A 15-year-old boy was arrested by the police in Mandaue City for illegal possession of firearm last Friday.

The boy, name withheld, is said to be involved in the series of robbery incidents in the city. He was arrested in Sitio Kagape, Barangay Paknaan by the team of Sr. Inspector Wilson Abot for possession of a Caliber .45 pistol. He is a resident of the nearby sitio Zone Sibuyas in the same barangay.

Abot’s team was on a routine patrol following the series of robbery and burglary incidents in their area, when they chanced upon the suspect walking suspiciously.

The suspect tried to evade the team of policemen prompting the lawmen to chase him. The minor was subsequently arrested in possession of the firearm with seven rounds of ammunition.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to have been involved in the spate of burglaries in the city. In fact, he had been arrested twice already for burglary.

Some stolen items were recovered by the police from the persons whom the suspect sold his loot. Among the items recovered were Cherry Turbo pad, one Acer laptop, one Dell laptop, one A4tech headset, one astra mouse, and one Viewsonic computer monitor.

The suspect is now temporarily detained at the Basak Police station pending the filing of appropriate case.  (FREEMAN)
