Tuburan hospital personnel having attitude problems?

CEBU, Philippines - After the death of a three-year old child at the Tuburan District Hospital, the attitude of the hospital personnel will be the next thing to be looked into by the Capitol.

Governor Hilario Davide III said that Tuburan Mayor Democrito Diamante Jr. reported to him yesterday about some complaints from his constituents about the attitude problem of some hospital personnel.

“Duna’y problema sa attitude, I assured that I will look into that,” Davide told reporters.

In a phone interview, Diamante said that the report of malpractice at the hospital that caused the death of the child triggered the issue.

Diamante explained that in the previous administration, the Tuburan local government took no part in managing the hospital which is under the provincial government.

“I asked Jun-jun (Davide) nga caretaker, overseer lang mi, di man mi moapil sa management. Ako lang nga duna’y personality nga pwede ka-question, pwede ko ka-pressure nila to serve,” Diamante said.

Diamante said that the facility is already there and it must be improved to cater to the needs of the constituents.

Among the proposals of Diamante is that the Capitol reshuffle hospital personnel for them to perform well, including its chief, Dr. Esteban Ligaray, if necessary.

“Katong bata giatiman pa to, di to mamatay,” he said.

Diamante did not blame the attending physician, Dr. Jatuporn Vatanagul, for the incident.

“Kato si Vatanagul, natulog ra, wa lang gi-inform, inosente to ang doktor,” he added.

In its initial investigation report, the Integrated Provincial Health Office also ruled that there was no negligence on the part of Vatanagul.

Davide already has ordered the relief of Vatanagul who has stopped reporting since the issue was raised by the child’s relatives.  (FREEMAN)
