Jail guard who kills warden charged
CEBU, Philippines - A criminal complaint for murder was filed yesterday against a jail guard at the Toledo City Jail who shot his jail warden dead and wounded a fellow jail guard last Friday.
A separate complaint for frustrated murder will also be filed today before the Toledo City Prosecutor’s Office against Jail Officer 3 Donald Ramas, 42.
Ramas admitted killing Jail Inspector Anaclito Dusaran and wounding JO2 Maria Milamid Abella, 34. The victims were seated on a wooden bench at the jail facility when Ramas shot them without any provocation.
Dusaran died in the hospital because of gunshot wounds in the head and legs while Abella is still recuperating from the injuries she sustained in the back and right breast.
During yesterday’s inquest investigation before Toledo City prosecutor Raul Cesar Bajarias, the respondent signed a waiver of detention and asked for an opportunity to answer the complaint. He was given 10 days to submit his counter-affidavit.
SPO2 Larry Pili said they would have filed yesterday the complaint for frustrated murder against Ramas but the relatives of Abella did not show up.
The suspect was allegedly mad at Dusaran for not allowing him to leave to prepare his requirements for schooling. SJO4 Johan Alatraca, deputy jail warden, said Ramas did not intend to shoot Abella.
In fact, the suspect was already regretful for shooting his fellow jail guard. But it was his intention to really shoot Dusaran. (FREEMAN)
