City Hall refuses more appeal letters

Jessa Agua - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Human Resources Development Office (HRDO) at the Cebu City Hall has stopped receiving and entertaining letters of reconsideration from casual employees initially kicked out.

July 5, Friday, was the last day HRDO and the core group has set for casual employees initially recommended for non-renewal to appeal for a second chance to continue working for the City Government .

“Stop na ta ug dawat ug letters. Wala pa naka convene ang core group for the final list of reconsidered list but so far we have acted favorably on about 20 appeals,” HRDO chief Atty. Dominic Diño said.

At least 80 letters were received by Diño’s office since the non-renewed casual employees list was released June 28. The list reached about 300.

Casual employees renewal period were categorized into two: renewal for two months and three months.

Three months is for positively assessed by the core group while the other is for those under observation and thorough evaluation.

Since appeals were already dealt with, Diño added that they can now focus on hiring new employees.

But before this, an inventory of vacant positions from every department and office must first be accomplished.

This will help HRDO and the core group in determining how many new employees should the city hire.

The vacant non-permanent positions will also be assessed by both HRDO and department head if outsourcing is more effective.  (FREEMAN)
