Road mishap kills motorcycle rider

CEBU, Philippines - A 44-year-old motorcycle rider died of an accident after he collided with a 10-wheeler truck at the national highway in Barangay Sabang, Sibonga last Sunday afternoon.

Nicolas Kong, resident of Sitio Gahad, Barangay Poblacion, Sibonga, died on the spot after losing control of his motorcycle while trying to overtake a car. He collided with the truck driven by Danilo Davide, 39, of Colawin, Argao.

Kong was heading south while Davide was coming from the opposite direction when the accident happened.

SPO1 Bernard Otida said that Davide surrendered at Carcar City police station. He was later turned over to Sibonga police station where he is currently detained.

Otida however said that Davide will soon be released after the family of the victim expressed willingness to settle amicably.

“Admitted man nga disgrasya gyud kuno ang nahitabo (It was admitted that what happened was really an accident),” Otida said.  (FREEMAN)
