Citom to close roads for Mike's oath-taking

CEBU, Philippines - Motorists are advised to take the alternative routes suggested by the City Traffic and Operations Management (Citom) for the oath-taking ceremony of reelected Mayor Michael Rama on Sunday, June 30, at the Plaza Independencia.

Vice President Jejomar Binay is expected to administer the oath of office of Rama and five other Team Rama allies, namely Vice Mayor Edgar Labella, incoming councilors Mary Ann Delos Santos, Dave Tumulak, James Cuenco and Hanz Abella.

Starting 9 a.m.,  M.J. Cuenco Ave., Osmeña Blvd., M.C. Briones St., Legaspi Ext. and Serging Osmeña Blvd. will be closed to traffic.

Jeepneys going to the North Reclamation Area through Urdaneta St. shall turn left to M.J. Cueno Ave, turn right to Benedicto St. passing through Gen. Maxilom Ave. and Andres Soriano Ave. then to the North Bus Terminal.

Those bound for Mandaue City shall turn left to M.J. Cuenco Ave. and back to their usual route. Jeepneys bound for the pier area shall use  Urdaneta St. towards their destination while those coming from the north will turn right to V. Sotto St. and left turn to M.J. Cuenco Ave.

The tunnel shall be utilized for public vehicles going to the North and South of Cebu.

Parking space will also be available for those who intend to witness the ceremony. Parking slots for VIPs are in front of the Post Office and Fort San Pedro while others may park along Legaspi Extn. and Serging Osmeña Blvd.

The roads will be opened to traffic again as soon as the ceremony ends at around noontime.  (FREEMAN)
