Dismissed from service
CEBU, Philippines - Natu-el said Borinaga has been dismissed from police service since 2008 after he went absence without official leave (AWOL) after being found positive of using illegal drugs.
Borinaga’s last assignment was with the Police Regional Office where he was transferred from CCPO’s Waterfront Police Station.
The suspect denied any involvement in the crime.
“Wala gyud ko gapusil ato niya. Wala sad ko makaila niya. Nahibong gani ko,†said Borinaga told the media.
He claimed he was in Mandaue City when Daligdig was shot.
Borinaga underwent a paraffin test and a drug test yesterday, as he appeared to be still high on drugs, police said.
Daligdig’s wife Mary Rose, 42, still could not believe her husband’s death.
“Nisulti siya na naa daw siya’y bug-at nga tawo nga naengkwentro pero wa na siya musulti kinsa. Di tingali siya ganahan maguol ko,†she said.
Daligdig left behind two daughters, aged 14 and eight. He lived with his family in Barangay Budlaan.
City Traffic Operations Management chief Rafael Yap said Daligdig, who has been serving as a traffic enforcer for more than six years, was efficient in his job.
“Maayo siya motrabaho,†said Yap.
In fact, Yap said, Daligdig was one of the awardees last year for having the most number of traffic violators that he apprehended.
A charge for murder will be filed against Borinaga today.
