CEBU, Philippines - The uncle of governor-elect Hilario “Junjun” Davide III, Dr. Romulo Davide, has submitted yesterday his agricultural program proposals which are among the flagship project of the incoming administration.

Dr. Davide submitted the list of his proposals to the office of acting Governor Agnes Magpale where he is currently serving as consultant on agriculture for one peso a year.

Magpale said that although the list was submitted to her, it will be governor-elect Davide who will to look at it and implement the projects with her support and the rest of the members of the Provincial Board.

Magpale said that there are 11 projects in the list submitted by Dr. Davide but she only mentioned four major projects.

On top is the revival of the Farmer Scientist Training Program to be expanded to the municipalities and barangays in the Province of Cebu.

Magpale said it was already done with her hiring Dr. Davide as consultant of the said program since March 20 just days before the start of the local campaign of the last May 13 elections.

The FSTP was renamed Integrated Farmer Systems Development Program (IFSDP) during the term of suspended Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia into.

Dr. Davide proposed the declaration of a special day of recognition for Cebu farmers.

While there is already an existing tramline for vegetable harvest in Mantalongon, Dalaguete town, Dr. Davide proposed to have the facilities in all mountainous areas to transport farm products to the market.

The Department of Agriculture reportedly assured to give P3 million for the establishment of tramlines in other towns.

“Ang amo role karon mag-identify mi sa mountain areas where they can put tramlines,” Magpale said.

Magpale found the project doable because the funding is already assured.

Dr. Davide also recommended the establishment of a Mountain Highway which is something like the Trans-axial Highway earlier proposed by the late vice governor Gregorio Sanchez Jr.

Sanchez’s daughter, Board Member-elect Grecilda Sanchez, vowed to pursue the dream of her father.

Dr. Davide also proposed the establishment of an agriculture building at the Capitol equipped with laboratory.

Davide’s contract as FSTP consultant will expire on June 30.

“I’m sure governor-elect Junjun Davide will retain him,” Magpale said.
