CEBU, Philippines - The Danao City Police filed a criminal complaint for murder against six men who were accused of killing a policeman who was trying to pacify a fight in Barangay Looc, Danao City, last Friday, around 5 p.m.

PO3 Marlon Remollo told The FREEMAN that the complaint was received by the Danao City Prosecutor’s Office 11 a.m. yesterday.

It was city prosecutor Jose Dionisio Kyamko who did the inquest proceedings.

Named respondents were Brave Alvaro, Ronstel Casas, Antonio Alvaro and Alvaro Alvaro, all of Barangay Looc; Ronnie Capin of Barangay Paril, Cebu City; and Michael Veloso of Barangay Suba, Danao City.

However, Remollo said Antonio Alvaro, Alvaro Alvaro and Veloso remain at large.

Aside from the murder case, Brave, Ronstel and Ronnie, who were arrested after a hot pursuit, will also faces charges for illegal possession of drugs after they were found with shabu, Remollo said.

Based on reports, SPO2 Jose Relampagos, of Barangay Dumlog, was shot dead by the respondents while trying to pacify them after he saw them fighting. Relampagos and his live-in partner were heading home when they came upon the group.

The victim was brought to the Danao Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Before the incident, Relampagos went to Sitio Pulang Yuta, Barangay Looc, Danao City, together with his live-in partner to light a candle for the fiesta celebration in the place when the incident happened.

In another development, the Danao City police are creating a task force to find the three suspects.

Danao City police chief Supt. Resty Santos refused to disclose how many policemen were assigned to the task force.

“Basta ubay-ubay ang members tungod sa kadaghan sa gukdunon,” Santos said in a phone interview.

Santos added they received information that some of the suspects fled for Leyte Province, but he said they have yet to confirm this.

The suspects are allegedly involved in illegal drugs and are in the drug watchlist of the Provincial Intelligence Branch.

Police are also monitoring hospitals after reports reached their office that one of the suspects at large was injured. –(FREEMAN)
