Cathlene Lou D. Tacoloy - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A man accused of sexual harassment was stabbed dead by the woman’s husband in Sitio Tawagan, Barangay Sirao, Cebu City 9:30 PM last Sunday.

Giovanni Son Soquib, 40, a job order employee and a resident of the said place was stabbed by his neighbor, Roel Medio, 25, a landscaper.

The victim’s brother, Joel, said that he was asked by his nephew to look for his father (Giovanni) outside their house.

While looking around the place, he saw the victim lying on the ground with stab wounds on the right portion of his chest and left side of his neck.

Joel said his brother was conscious at that time and told him that he was attacked and stabbed by their neighbor Roel.

The victim was brought to the Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center but was declared dead on arrival.

Medio did not resist arrest. In an interview with The FREEMAN, he said that prior to the incident, he confronted Soquib regarding allegations of bothering and sexually harassing his wife.  He said Soquib tried to punch him prompting Medio to react and stab the victim.

“Nag-istorya mi. Gipangutana nako siya ngano’ng sige siya ug samok sa akong asawa, (We talked and I asked him why he keeps on harassing my wife),” Medio said.

He added that he had no intention of killing Soquib. His wife confirmed their neighbor’s sexual harassment and said she was threatened at knifepoint not to tell her husband about the incident.

Medio is now detained at the CCPO detention cell and pending the filing of charges by the victim’s family.— MIT (FREEMAN)
