Farmer nabbed for “raping” boy, 5

CEBU, Philippines - A farmer was arrested for the alleged rape of a 5-year-old boy in Sitio Cogan, Barangay Lutas, Naga City at around 8 PM last May 19.

Jessie Cabigquez, 24, a native of Tagoloan Misamis Oriental, Mindanao was accused of raping the boy who is a resident of Minglanilla but is on vacation with his relatives in Naga.

PO2 Cristina Ricaña of the Women and Children Protection Desk of Naga Police Station, said the boy’s mother personally went to the station to file a complaint after she was told by her nephew, who saw the incident.

In an interview, Cabigquez admitted the allegations and said he was too drunk to remember what really happened after attending the birthday celebration of  the boy’s uncle.

Cabigquez added that the boy went to him, wanting to eat Spanish plums locally known as ‘siniguelas’ which he grows in his garden. He said he fell asleep but after awhile, he noticed that the boy was still beside him and the incident happen.

Cabigquez said that he was very close to the boy and it was the only time he touched the kid.

The suspect is now detained at the Naga Police Station awaiting the filing of charges against him.— /MIT (FREEMAN)
