Davide attends Capitol dep’t heads meeting

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Acting Governor Agnes Magpale advised governor-elect Hilario Davide III to ask for assistance from the national government to settle the payables of the Provincial Government when he assumes office on June 30.

Magpale invited Davide to attend her meeting with the Capitol department heads yesterday for familiarization.

Davide asked the department heads to support his administration.

“I want the Provincial Government to really serve the Cebuanos,” Davide told reporters.

Davide was briefed on pending projects like the Carmen Bulk Water Project and the joint venture with Filinvest on the establishment of a commercial complex at the province-owned lot formerly occupied by the Bagong Buhay Rehabilitation Center (BBRC) in Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

He also asked Acting Provincial Treasurer Emmanuel Guial to prepare a detailed financial report to be published.

Magpale also briefed Davide of the payables that she inherited from the administration of suspended governor Gwendolyn Garcia.

She said that Capitol now has more than P300 million fund but the amount is still not enough to settle the total payables.

Magpale is prioritizing payment for services and set aside infrastructures.

Magpale said that the attendance of Davide in yesterday’s meeting was so productive and it made the new governor ready when he assumes office.

Davide said he still has to meet the department heads individually.

“At least nagkaila nami,” added Davide.— /MBG (FREEMAN)
