The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A Cebuana traveled from Belgrade to Budapest in Hungary to personally deliver her Overseas Absentee Voting ballot.

Clende Berkin Brkovic is one of the 21 registered overseas absentee voters in the Serbia.

According to the Department of Foreign Affairs, traveled five hours, leaving Serbia at 3 a.m. in a rented van and went straight to the Philippine Embassy in Hungary.

Upon her arrival, she was greeted by Philippine Ambassador Eleanor L. Jaucian to Hungary  and the embassy officers and staff.

Brkovic, a native of Lapu-Lapu City, said she was excited to cast her vote as a Filipino far away from home even if she encountered difficulties due to the distance and inconvenience involved in the long trip to Budapest.

Brkovic is married to a Serbian and has three children. She has been in Serbia since 1999 and owns a small business in Belgrade.

She registered to become an overseas voter when members of the Philippine Embassy staff conducted mobile registration in Belgrade in October 2012.

This was her first time to cast her vote overseas and her first time as well to come to Budapest. Philippine Star News Service (FREEMAN)
