Davide’s Law classmates support PJ

The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The incumbent president and two former presidents of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines–Cebu Province Chapter who were classmates of gubernatorial candidate Hilario “Jun-jun” Davide III said Davide is a good man but doest have what it takes to be governor of Cebu.

Ramsey Quijano and Ferdinand Pepito, both former IBP presidents, and incumbent president Erwin Rommel Heyrosa, along with a former Commission on Elections commissioner as their consultant, are now leading the Lawyers for Pablo John group.

Quijano said that aside from the three, most of them in the LPJ are friends of Davide but are not supporting the Liberal Party’s candidate for governor.

“Jun-jun as we know him is a very good person but we do not think that he is the right person for the job. The issue here is the capacity to govern. So, we believe that Pablo John is better equipped to do the job,” said Quijano in a press conference yesterday.

The LPJ is a support group composed of volunteer lawyers and paralegals who have been working for the candidacy of third district Rep. Pablo John Garcia for governor.

Quijano said that former Comelec commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal is also working with them as a consultant.

The group expressed confidence that Garcia and his running mate, former Danao City vice mayor Ramon “Boboy” Durano IV, will win in Monday’s elections.

“We believe that our candidate, PJ Garcia, is unquestionably the most qualified, the most intelligent and the most capable person to run the affairs of the province,” the LPJ statement read.

The groups claimed they are ready for Monday after they have been to all towns and cities conducting seminars and lectures, briefing their watchers and political leaders.

They also strongly warning any political party or any person or group that may attempt to cheat, rig or defeat the popular will that they will be thwarted by LPJ, their watchers and political leaders.

“We will be on the ground, we will be at the precincts, we will be at the canvassing. We will be where you will be,” said Quijano.

Quijano stressed that they trust the Comelec and the system but they are just being ready and prepared for any eventuality.

He said that the Precinct Count Optical Scan machines have many vulnerabilities such as the switching of CF cards, transmission problems and others.

The group has 50 lawyers and 100 paralegals to be deployed throughout the province to protect Garcia’s votes and of his party, One Cebu.  (FREEMAN)
