Barangay tanod hurt in hacking

Niña G. Sumacot-Abenoja - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - A barangay tanod sustained lacerated wound in the face after a suspected thief hacked him Thursday night in Barangay Bulak, Dalaguete.

Honorato Entoma, 37, would have had his neck cut off had he not noticed his neighbor Porferio Cadiz striking him with his bolo.

Entoma was sitting outside his house until he fell asleep. The suspect took advantage of it and tried to kill him. Fortunately for Entoma, he was awaken by the sounds of the suspect’s coming and escaped from what could have been a fatal blow from Cadiz.

Entoma was rushed by his wife to the district hospital in Dalaguete while the suspect disappeared. But the police have prepared a criminal complaint for frustrated murder against him.

The barangay tanod told the police that earlier in Thursday, he had a heated argument with the suspect after he confronted the latter of the chickens that were reportedly stolen in their place. Cadiz is reportedly being suspected by his neighbors of stealing their chicken because of his previous record in the barangay. (FREEMAN)
