The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - Around 15,000 gathered to witness the proclamation of  local candidates of the Liberal Party in Bogo City yesterday by President Benigno Aquino III.

The LP local slate in the fourth district is led by congressional candidate, former mayor Celestino “Tining” Martinez III.

Also present were gubernatorial candidate Hilario Davide III and runningmate, acting Governor Agnes Magpale; Jose Layon and Raffy Luche, candidates for provincial board member; and other municipal candidates.

Those who attended were Bogo City and the towns of Daanbantayan, Medellin, San Remegio, Tabuelan, Tabogon, Santa Fe, Bantayan and Madridejos.

Aquino was earlier reported to grace the inauguration of the new Bogo City Hall.

However, the inauguration was already done last Monday and the unveiling of the marker was also done before his arrival yesterday.

Mayor Celestino “Junie” Martinez Jr. and other city officials were joined by reelectionist Senator Aquilino “Koko” Pimentel III in the unveiling of the marker.

Before Aquino’s arrival, Pimentel, former senator Jamby Madrigal,          Timmy Aquino who represented her husband, Bam Aquino; Luis Hontiveros who represented his aunt, Riza Hontiveros; and Bryan Poe who represented his mother, Grace Poe delivered their speeches and immediately left for other engagements.

In his welcome message, Mayor Martinez informed Aquino that around 4,000 beneficiaries of Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) were among those who attended so they can personally thank the President. —/MBG (FREEMAN)
