4Ps “graduating” families still getting some services

Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The Department of Labor and Employment will conduct a profiling of the government’s conditional cash transfer program or Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program household beneficiaries from the identified priority areas in Cebu City and Negros Oriental in the second quarter of this year.

This developed as Central Visayas with over 20,000 household-beneficiaries from Cebu and Negros Oriental will graduate from the 4Ps this year.  These beneficiaries started receiving their monthly financial subsidy in 2009 while the 4Ps is good only for five years.

DOLE Assistant Secretary Gloria Tango said that the agency will continue to provide services to help the poorest of the poor families nationwide especially those who are set to graduate this year from 4Ps.

In a press release by the Philippine Information Agency-7, Tango said DOLE will focus their assistance on two barangays in Cebu City namely Duljo-Fatima and Mambaling; and Barangay Aniniaw, La Libertad in Negros Oriental which have the highest number of 4Ps beneficiaries.

Tango presided the recent meeting of the Regional Child Labor Committee attended by over 25 stakeholders from regional line agencies and partner non-government organizations.  — (FREEMAN)
