LTO, LTFRB conduct road safety seminar
CEBU, Philippines - To ensure road safety during the Holy Week, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) 7 and the Land Transportation Office (LTO) 7 yesterday conducted a seminar with bus drivers and conductors.
LTO 7 Regional Director Raul Aguilos said that 52 bus drivers and drivers attended the seminar while 31 were subjected to drug testing and one tested positive of illegal drug use.
Meanwhile, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) 7 Regional Director Isabelo Montejo directed all field officials in the four provinces to put up a skeletal force and a quick mobilization and response mechanism in case of emergencies in the observance of the Lenten break.
This, as DENR Undersecretary for Field Operations Demetrio L. Ignacio Jr. issued a memorandum last March 25 to institute and establish operational protocols in all DENR offices nationwide.
“This is part of our continuing efforts and commitment to provide the necessary services as we commemorate our well-cherished and well-treasured tradition during this Lenten season,†said Montejo in a statement.
Montejo instructed all provincial and community environment and natural resources officers to continue in closely monitoring environmental situation and immediately report illegal activities and untoward incidents within their respective area of assignment.
Likewise, measures and strategies have been put in place by assigning front line personnel who will be keeping an eye on wildlife trafficking, illegal trading of mineral resources, and other environmental and natural resources law enforcement operations in airports and seaports. — (FREEMAN)
