For 2nd District; bridges, dikes among priority projects

CEBU, Philippines - Reconstruction of bridges and flood control dikes are among the priority infrastructure projects in the second district of the Province of Cebu for funding next year amounting to P748 million.

With the concurrence of Rep. Pablo Garcia, District Engineer Fernando Cruz submitted to the Infrastructure Development Committee of the Regional Development Council the proposed projects.

The RDC is set to endorse the proposed projects for inclusion in the 2014 budget of the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

These include the replacement and reconstruction of eight-linear meter bridges in Bangcogon, Mag-ambak and Nailong amounting to P8 million each and the six-linear meter bridges of Doong and Ablayan amounting to P5.1 million each.

There are completion of river flood control dikes with 900-linear meter length each in Tapon, Dalaguete;  Lusapon, Boljoon; Ginatilan; Malabuyoc; Dumanjug; Mantalongon, Dalaguete; Moalboal and Alegria amounting to P10 million each.

The completion of Poblacion and Looc seawalls in Dumanjug will cost P20 million and P14 million, respectively.

The preventive maintenance and asphalt overlay of Natalio Bacalso Avenue (Cebu South Road) in the second district will cost P150 million.

The rehabilitation and reconstruction of damaged paved national roads is estimated to cost P60 million while the rehabilitation and reconstruction of 2.7 kilometers of Argao-Moalboal road will also cost P50 million.

Meanwhile, Engr. Wilfredo Enciso also submitted proposed infrastructure projects amounting to P403.6 million for northern Cebu with the concurrence of fourth district Rep. Benhur Salimbangon.

These include the rehabilitation, reconstruction and upgrading of arterial roads in Ilihan and Caduawan in Tabogon and in Binabag, Bogo City; Tigbawan, Tabuelan; Luyang, Victoria, Tambongon  and Maño in San Remegio; Guiwanon and Poblacion in Tabuelan amounting to P211 million.

Also included are the Sogod-Tabuelan road; Bogo-Curva, Medellin-Daanbantayan road and Bogo-Polambato wharf road in the amount of P136.4 million.

The replacement of Maraat Bridge along Antonio Y de Pio Highway in Victoria, San Remegio will cost P26 million while the Dayhagon Bridge along Bogo-Curva-Medellin-Daanbantayan road in Dayhagon, Medellin will also cost P30 million. — (FREEMAN)
