Marigold Lebumfacil - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - The nationwide visitation of San Pedro Calungsod’s pilgrim  image dubbed as “Duaw Nasud” will soon resume.

“After going back in the drawing board for the resumption of the Duaw Nasud two weeks ago, it is already nearing to start next month and we have finalized the schedule,” Fr. Charles Jayme, the official custodian of the pilgrim image, told The FREEMAN yesterday.

From April 27 to May 11, the image will be in Molo, Iloilo and Romblon.Sometime in July, the image will be in Davao and Palawan.

Jayme said that the purpose for the resumption of the Duaw Nasud is to continue propagating the devotion to the second Filipino and the first Visayan saint.

“I encourage everybody to pray to San Pedro Calungsod for the success to continue propagating the devotion to the second Filipino saint,” said Jayme.

The pilgrim image of San Pedro Calungsod will be placed in the cathedral of the place it is visiting for veneration.

There will be masses that will be done as well as cathechism about the life of the martyr saint.

Aside from propagating the devotion to San Pedro Calungsod among the Filipino Catholics, Duaw Nasud also aims to share with the whole nation the honor and joy of having another Filipino whose name is being inscribed by the Universal Church in the catalogue of saints.

There are 16 archdioceses, 57 dioceses, six prelatures, six apostolic vicariates and one military ordinariate in the entire country.

Jayme said that they were only able to cater to six archdioceses, 29 dioceses, and one military ordinariate all over the country during the Duaw Nasud activity after the canonization of San Pedro Calungsod on October 21 last year and prior to the National Thanksgiving Mass on November 30.

Among the archdioceses that the image had visited so far, were the archdioceses of Manila, Cagayan, Ozamis, Jaro in Iloilo, Palo in Leyte and Cebu.

They were also able to visit the military ordinariate in Camp Crame and Villamor Airbase.

Jayme said the Duaw Nasud is one of the many ways of propagating the devotion to San Pedro Calungsod as there are many celebrations and activities made for the saint. —(FREEMAN)
