CEBU, Philippines - Two men were found dead yesterday morning in barangays Camputhaw and Capitol Site in Cebu City.

Misunderstanding with his live-in partner allegedly prompted Alvin Casas, legal age, of Barangay Camputhaw, to commit suicide early morning yesterday.  He was found by his mother, Lita Casas, hanging from a noose inside his room around 7 a.m.

Lita said she went upstairs to call Alvin down for breakfast, but no one answered from behind the locked door.  Worried, Lita asked her husband to break down the door and they found Alvin hanging lifeless.

Operatives of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office said Alvin was reportedly upset following a misunderstanding with his live-in partner Felomina Ele-gino.

They added the victim might have committed suicide as early as 11 p.m. Sunday as the body already in rigor mortis when it was discovered.

In Barangay Capitol Site, police found the body of a man who has yet to be identified, although witnesses claimed some people called him by the nicknames “Kulot” and “Manuel”.

Manuel’s body was found around 6:30 a.m. in J. Llorente St. lying on his right side on a wooden bench.  Witnesses tried to wake him up and later called police after he was unresponsive.

Police found no external injuries on the victim’s body but they will recommend an autopsy to verify the cause of death.

Meanwhile, two men, one of them a Briton, were hurt in separate vehicular accidents in the towns of Borbon and Dalaguete over the weekend.  In Borbon, a motorcycle driver was killed while his passenger was injured when their motorcycle hit a government-issued ambulance along the National Highway in Barangay Lugo.

Joie Demiar Aballe, 30, of Barangay Batad, San Remigio town; and Arnold Pagatpat, were rushed to the Juan Dosado Hospital in Sogod town after the accident.

Aballe was declared dead by the doctor while Pagatpat was taken to a hospital in Cebu City.  Ambulance driver Felizardo Brion later surrendered to the Medellin Police Station.

In another incident, British national Roland Vosveld, 51, of Barangay Balisong, Argao; accidentally hit Paulo Gamboa, 78, while the latter crossed the street in Sitio Panaguikan, Barangay Tapon, Dalaguete, around 10:30 p.m. last Sunday.

Vosveld reportedly tried to maneuver the motorcycle but was too late and hit the victim.  Both were rushed to the Julio Cardinal Rosales Memorial Hospital for treatment..  —/BRP (FREEMAN)
