Man shot dead inside friend’s house

CEBU, Philippines - A 23-year-old man was shot dead inside his friend’s house in Sitio Upper Manol, Barangay Tisa, Cebu City yesterday morning.

John Carlos Bardinas, a resident of Sitio Mangga in the same barangay, was found dead with a gunshot wound in his head at the house of a certain Arnel “Dodong” Parba.

Police are now investigating Parba’s possible involvement in the incident after he was no longer found since 9:00 yesterday morning as the body was discovered.

Police are also pursuing illegal drugs as one of the possible motives of the crime since drug paraphernalia were found near Bardina’s body.

SPO1 Ruth Violango, of the Homicide Section of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), said that a concerned citizen informed them of the body which then prompted them to check and verify the report.

Violango added that the body was found lying on the bed inside the room of the house and in a pool of blood.

“Ato tong pangitaon ang tag-iya sa balay apil siya sa investigation. Ma-consider siya nga suspect, (We will look for the owner of the house. He is included in the investigation and is considered a suspect,)” she said.

Violango said that no one was around when they arrived, even Parba’s family.

She said that Parba’s statements could give them a lead for their investigation if they could find him for questioning.

“In our investigation they are friends since the victim was able to get inside the house. We still investigate why the victim was shot,” said Violango. (FREEMAN)
