Gwen returns 4 cars, keeps office locked

AJ de la Torre - The Freeman

CEBU, Philippines - All four government cars issued to suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia have been returned and are now under the custody of Acting Governor Agnes Magpale.

Eva Encabo, head of the Provincial General Services Office said that they were able to get the keys last week as part of their inventory.

The suspended governor had four cars - a Nissan Patrol (SGT 777), a Nissan Patrol Safari (SJW 888) and two Toyota Hilux for her security escorts and backup.

Magpale said that she is currently using one of the backup cars.

Magpale said she has turned over the two cars under her office to Acting Vice Governor Julian Daan but one is currently under repair.

But even with cars returned, Encabo said that they are still waiting for the keys to Garcia’s main office so they can proceed with their inventory.

Encabo said that they have made an inventory in the Office of the Governor including the corridors, the office of the staff members and the pantry.

The old session hall and the conference room are next in their list.

Magpale said she does not want to forcibly open the office of Garcia and would have to wait for her to turn over the key.

Magpale earlier said that she would only transfer to the Office of the Governor in the Executive building after the completion of PGSO’s inventory.

Magpale said she can continue working in her office in the legislative building but it would be inconvenient for Acting Vice Governor Julian Daan who is he supposed to move to her office.

Last week, Daan said he would need a bigger space considering that he will be having more employees.

Some of Daan’s casual personnel have been using the lobby as temporary office.  (FREEMAN)
