CEBU, Philippines -  A dump truck driver was shot dead by two unidentified men on board a motorcycle while on his way home a few minutes before midnight last Thursday on the National Highway of Sitio Tapon, Barangay Matab-ang, Toledo City.

Dexter Relente Tejadillo, 28, of Barangay Estaca, Minglanilla, succumbed to two gunshot wounds in the right portion of the body and in the head. He was no longer taken to the hospital.

Tejadillo was reportedly on board his Honda XRM motorcycle bearing plate number 6098IF heading towards Barangay Poblacion from Sitio Tunga,

Barangay Matab-ang, when he was followed by the assailants.

Upon reaching Sitio Tapon, two bursts of gunfire were heard by residents nearby prompting them to check outside.

Tejadillo was then found lying on the road in a pool of blood.

The assailants were seen heading towards Sitio Tunga of the said barangay.

SPO1 Benedicto Bobilles, homicide investigator, said they are now checking if Tejadillo had enemies at the hauling company where he was working.

“Ingon sa pamilya ani nga wala kuno ni kontra pero amo gihapong susihon ngadto, (His family said he had no enemies but we will still investigate,)” Bobilles said in a phone interview.

Police could not also say that Tejadillo was robbed since his wallet was still in his pocket.

Bobilles added that they are now coordinating with the family of the victim.

The victim’s remains now lies at St. Francis Funeral Homes for autopsy while follow-up operation is still being conducted to identify and apprehend the suspects as well as determine the motive of the incident.  (FREEMAN)
