Minor arrested for gun possession
CEBU, Philippines - A 17-year-old boy was arrested by the police after he was caught having in his possession a .38 revolver Sunday afternoon in Barangay Centro, Mandaue City.
The boy was apprehended after challenging Johnrey Padin to a fight.
Padin proceeded to Police Station 1 and sought police assistance.
Chief Insp. Jimmy Aguisanda, police station chief, said the boy was with his friends who were allegedly members of Bloods gang when they met Padin, who was walking along that road at that time.
Aguisanda said Padin unintentionally hit the boy’s shoulder. This irked the boy who then challenged Padin to a fight.
Padin left the group and just went home. However, the boy’s group reportedly went to Padin’s house and challenged him to a fight again.
According to Aguisanda, Padin learned that the boy was tucking a revolver, which prompted him to run to the police station.
Police arrested the boy who was detained at the police stockade while charges for illegal possession of firearms and violation of the Comelec gun ban were filed at the Mandaue City Prosecutor’s Office yesterday. (FREEMAN)
