Magpale won’t get credit for cash aid
CEBU, Philippines - The president of the Cebu Municipal Mayors League vows not to give credit to acting Governor Agnes Magpale in spite the release of financial assistance to the barangay health workers.
CMML president and Dumanjug Mayor Nelson Garcia said he would only acknowledge his sister, suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia, for the assistance.
Garcia said the financial assistance for BHWs is a program of his sister and not of Magpale. Besides Garcia said he would stick to his town’s declaration of Magpale and Provincial Board Member Arleigh Sitoy as persona non grata.
“This is not her project so we will thank Gov Garcia. Iyaha pag release raman,†Garcia said.
Magpale started the distribution of checks yesterday in the northern towns. The acting governor personally turned over the checks for BHWs in Bogo City, Tabuelan and San Remigio.
The distribution of the checks came after the officials of the federation of BHWs in the province went to see Magpale last January 18.
They inquired from Magpale why they have not received their P2,400 cash gift from the provincial government.
According to the BHW officials, they used to receive the amount before Christmas.
In Dumanjug, Mayor Garcia said they have 370 BHWs that have yet to receive their cash gifts.
He said that there is still no schedule for the distribution of checks in his town. But even if Magpale will distribute the checks she cannot expect him to thank her for it.
Mayor Garcia also criticized Magpale for handing out the checks personally because it could be tainted with politics. The same criticism was hurled by the Liberal Party against One Cebu prior to Governor Gwen Garcia’s suspension. (FREEMAN)
