Two arrested for stealing cop’s shirt
CEBU, Philippines - The proximity of a police station did not stop two suspected thieves from stealing the sweat shirt of a police officer kept in the utility box of his motorcycle.
But suspects Arnold Chavez, 18, and Louie Diaz, 22, both residents of Sitio Mana-nga II, Tabunok, Talisay City were arrested after their victim, PO1 Ranulfo Villaver, made a follow-up operation.
Villaver parked his motorcycle outside Talisay City Police Station where he was on duty from 10 p.m. Thursday until 6 a.m. the following day.
When he was about to leave the police station after his tour of duty, he noticed that the utility box of his motorcycle was already open and his sweat shirt gone.
He also suspects that the thieves tried to steal his motorcycle because a broken key was found in its ignition slot. Last Saturday, a fellow policeman informed Villaver that he saw a man wearing his sweat shirt, which bears his family name, in Sitio Mananga.
A follow-up operation was conducted and the one wearing the sweat shirt told the police that he bought it from the two suspects, Chavez and Diaz.
This led to the arrest of the two who are now detained in Talisay City Police stockade. — /MBG (FREEMAN)
