Tricycle driver shot dead in Danao

CEBU, Philippines -  A 26-year-old tricycle driver was shot dead by a still unidentified assailant in Sitio San Antonio, Barangay Guinsay, Danao City, last Thursday afternoon.

Christopher Gimenez Perez, single, and a resident of the said place, succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds to his right arm, neck and head.

He was taken to the Danao Provincial Hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.

Police said Perez was on his way home on board his tricycle when the assailant suddenly appeared and shot him several times.

Superintendent Resty Santos, Danao City police chief, said they are now looking for a certain “Ewit”, a member of Alpha Kappa Rho fraternity, who allegedly threatened the victim.

Santos, however, clarified that Perez was not a member of any fraternity and that a personal grudge could be one of the possible motives behind the killing.

“Among gisubay sa bangi ani’ng duha kay gibaharan man ni ang victim ni Ewit before,” Santos said in a phone interview.

Santos said that Ewit left Danao City after he was blamed for a series of robbery incidents.  Ewit just came home last December.

Police are now checking if Ewit has an arrest warrant for robbery.  (FREEMAN)
