Rama favors UNA plans to kick off national campaign in Cebu
CEBU, Philippines - Cebu City Mayor Michael Rama is in favor of the plan of the United Nationalist Alliance (UNA) to open its campaign in Cebu.
He sees it as an advantage to UNA allies here including Team Rama.
Rama said he will clarify the plan and arrangement when their table discussion starts.
UNA senatoriable Miguel Zubiri said in reports that UNA is considering Cebu as the venue to open the campaign for the senatorial race on February 12.
Zubiri said one of the plans is doing it in the province as a show of support to the embattled lady Governor who was penalized with a six-month suspension by the Aquino Administration.
Zubiri said suspended Governor Gwendolyn Garcia needs the moral support as the latter is perceived as being bullied by the Liberal Party. When Garcia was suspended, Vice Governor Agnes Magpale, allied with LP, took over capitol as the acting Governor.
Magpale is running as vice governor under LP with running mate Hilario “Junjun†Davide III.
UNA is fielding Garcia’s brother, Rep. Pablo John “PJ†Garcia, against Davide this May.
Suspended Governor Gwen is running for a congressional seat in the third district.
Garcia was suspended by the President over the administrative case filed by the late Vice Governor Greg Sanchez for alleged abuse of authority.
Zubiri said Vice President Jejomar Binay supports the Cebu venue for the campaign kick-off.
Rama said that he is yet to talk with anybody from the national if there shall be a separate rally in Cebu City. (FREEMAN)
