Son kills pa over spat

Ria Mae Y. Booc -

CEBU, Philippines -  A father was shot dead by his son following an argument last Wednesday afternoon over the ownership of several trees planted in a one hectare lot at Barangay San Rafael, Barili.

Felomino Cabalquinto, 59, succumbed to a single gunshot wound in the abdomen. He was rushed to Barili District Hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Felomino was shot by his son, Samuel, 35, at the height of their argument over the ownership of the Mahogany trees in their property. The suspect claimed to have planted the trees but his father claimed otherwise.

The argument happened while the victim together with his two sons, including the suspect, was having a drinking session at 3:30 pm last Wednesday.

The heated argument ended up with the son shooting his father once using an improvised shotgun. Samuel surrendered voluntarily after the incident.

He is now detained at the Barili police station and will be charged with parricide. (FREEMAN)
