2 fall in Nubain buy-bust

CEBU, Philippines -  Two persons including a pharmacy owner were arrested in a buy-bust operation by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-7 along B. Rodriguez St., Barangay Sambag 1, Cebu City, yesterday afternoon.

Napoleon Recamora, 40, of Sitio Banawa, Barangay Guadalupe, Cebu City, was arrested for selling Nubain without prescription.  Also arrested was his accomplice Calvin Klein Cañete, 23, of Barangay Guadalupe.

Recamora tried to escape from the operatives on board his Toyota Fortuner with license plate numbers YHF-239, however, he was arrested by the Investigation and Detective Management Branch and the Special Weapons and Tactics of Cebu City Police Office after a brief chase.

PDEA-7 director Julius Navales told The FREEMAN they carried out the operation after Recamora sold them Nubain during a test buy conducted last week.

A poseur-buyer bought 30 ampoules of Nubain from Cañete in exchange for P5,000 but Cañete only handed over nine ampoules after noticing the lawmen.

Operative Jelou Anthony Paca said it was Cañete who made the transaction but it was Recamora who handed over the ampoules through his accomplice.

Paca said Recamora immediately got on his vehicle and sped off but was intercepted in Barangay Mabolo.

“Among gipa-alerto  iyang plate number sa radio kay nawala mi sa traffic pero didto na siya dakpi,” Paca said in a phone interview.

Operatives then positively identified Recamora when they arrived in Barangay Mabolo.  The suspects are now detained at the PDEA-7 stockade pending the filing of charges against them for conspiracy to sell and possession of illegal drugs against them today.  (FREEMAN)
