Man nabbed for molesting special child in Consolacion

CEBU, Philippines - A 22-year-old special child was sexually molested by her neighbor at Sitio Cambiohan, Casili, Consolacion Tuesday evening.

The suspect identified as Gaudencio Oling Pevida alyas Dencio was arrested during the hot pursuit operation few hours after the incident was reported to the police.

Charges were also filed in court yesterday against Pevida, who reportedly admitted to the crime.

Police Officer 3 Marjorie Paler of the Consolacion police station’s Women and Children’s Protection Desk (WCPD) said the victim, name withheld, was just looking for her cellphone outside the house when the suspect chanced upon her.

Pevida dragged the victim into the bushy area along the road and started molesting her. Luckily, there were concerned citizens who saw the victim and helped her out. The suspect then fled away unrecognized but follow-up operation led the police to Pevida.

Pevida was arrested inside his house through the help of another witness who allegedly recognized him.

Pevida is now temporarily detained at the Consolacion police station. —(FREEMAN)
