CEBU, Philippines - With the aim to continuously provide a channel for the youth to grow holistically and be good examples for other members of their generation, the Ten Outstanding Students of the Philippines Region 7 has officially opened its 2013 search in Central Visayas.

In their official statement, Rolando Villamero Jr., TOSP-7 regional representative said that they are now accepting nominations from Higher Education Institutions names for graduating students who have shown excellent performance in academics, social responsibility and leadership.

With this, colleges and universities in Cebu can send their nominations on or before Apr. 1, 2013 at the office of the Commission on Higher Education, National Government Center in Sudlon, Lahug, Cebu City.  HEI's in Bohol can also send their nominations at the European Union Realizing DREAMS Projects, Provincial Planning and Development Office of the Bohol Provincial Capitol while those in Negros Oriental and Siquijor may send their nominations at The Great Physician Rehabilitation Foundation, Inc. St. Louis Village, Bagacay, Dumaguete City.

Nomination forms can be downloaded at www.tospac.org.

"TOSP is an Awards and Formation Program that seeks to galvanize the youth into nation building through exemplary academic performance, change-making social involvement, and inspiring leadership services to their school, local communities, and the country," said Villamero.

He said that since 1961, TOSP has been a home of great leaders in different sectors of society.

For the Church, Bishop Antonio Ledesma and Fr. Manoling Francisco have been awarded by the office while government officials Rene Saguisag and the late Raul Roco have been part of this family.

Villamero said that when all the nominations are in, a screening process will take place to reveal the Top 20 finalists.  After which, the qualifying students will attend a three-day formation workshop and final interview from May 20 to 23 in Tagbilaran City, Bohol.

Together with the office's partners, RFM Foundation, RFM Corp., CHED, National Book Store, PLDT, and TOSP Alumni Community, they are hoping that the annual search will help in modeling more youth to be future leaders of the country.  –(FREEMAN)
